Updating WordPress Plugins

Plugin updates are essential for security, compatibility, and stability.

Before updating

  • Confirm you have a recent backup.
  • If possible, test updates on staging first.
  • Review plugin changelogs for major-version changes.

Update from WordPress admin

  1. Go to PluginsInstalled Plugins.
  2. Filter plugins with available updates.
  3. Update one plugin or a small batch.
  4. Recheck key pages and forms.
  5. Continue with remaining updates.

Update from WP Toolkit

  1. Open WP Toolkit in Hosting Panel.
  2. Review available plugin updates.
  3. Apply selected updates.
  4. Validate website behavior after update.

Post-update checks

  • Homepage and key landing pages load correctly.
  • Contact forms and email notifications work.
  • Checkout/cart/account flow works (if WooCommerce is enabled).
  • Console or PHP errors do not increase.
tip

For business websites, update during lower-traffic hours and keep a rollback path ready.
